Casting Violence

Casting Violence is an attempt to use art making as a metaphorical floodgate for negative emotions. Each takes an object and subjects it to punishing forces involved in casting iron; Intense heat, scraping, grinding, and breaking. Once cast, the objects become deformed and damaged. The resulting display is a cathartic and pleasurable record of violence. This work explores the complex relationship between creativity and criticism, where reward and punishment exist simultaneously.
